Greg Mulholland, Member of Parliament for Leeds North West, has praised the great work of those who worked so hard to make the 204^th Otley Show, last weekend, a great success.

"Despite a gloomy weather forecast and rain in the morning the organisers and the strong team of 150 volunteer stewards rose to the challenge of ensuring that over 4,000 exhibits as well as livestock competitions all went to plan.

Today in the House of Commons Greg Mulholland, Member of Parliament for Leeds North West and Chair of the Parliamentary Save the Pub Group, called on Treasury Ministers asking them to look into how much the taxpayer is paying to subsidise the pubco business model by paying tax credits to tied publicans - tax credits that would not be necessary if, as the Government intends, "the tied licensee is not worse off than the free of tie licensee" which the forthcoming statutory code of practice is poised to deliver.

Greg Mulholland, Member of Parliament for Leeds North West, today met with Rt. Hon. Hugh Robertson MP, Minister of State for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to discuss the Marriage Bill and his amendments to clearly separate civil and religious recognition of relationships (marriages and civil partnerships).

Greg Mulholland, Member of Parliament for Leeds North West, has welcomed Walk to School Week and National Walking Month with two new Parliamentary motions.

Walk to School Week (20-24 May) is an opportunity for parents and children across the UK to try walking to school. Along with Walk to Work Week (13-17 May), Walk to School Week forms a part of National Walking Month, a month dedicated to celebrating the benefits of walking.

Greg Mulholland, Chair of the Parliamentary Save the Pub Group and MP for Leeds North West, with Vice-Chairs of the Save the Pub Group Brian Binley and Grahame Morris, have tabled a Parliamentary Motion welcoming the launch of the Fair Deal for Your Local campaign which is calling for much needed reform of the tied model operated by the large pub owning companies.

Greg Mulholland, Member of Parliament for Leeds North West and Co-Chair of the Liberal Democrat Party Policy Committee for the Department of Work and Pensions, has today welcomed the arrival of the Care Bill delivered in today's Queen's Speech that will see thousand of pensioners, as well dependents and their carers, benefit from a reform in social care and the establishment of a fair flat-rate pension for all.

A new £2m scheme has been launched by the Coalition Government to help boost childcare businesses and help women back into work.

From today, people who want to set up a nursery can apply for grants of up to £500 to help cover things like legal and insurance costs, training, equipment and adaptations to buildings. The scheme is aimed to launch up to 6,000 new childcare businesses across England.

Greg Mulholland, Member of Parliament for Leeds North West, has praised all those involved in this year's Otley Stretcher Race, which raised money for Cancer Research UK and supported the town's pubs.

The event which took place on Bank Holiday Monday, May 6, had teams of five people, four carrying and one in a stretcher, doing a fun run in fancy dress and stopping at each one of Otley's pubs for a alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink.
