Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West and Member of the Work and Pensions Select Committee today called for a simpler and fairer pensions system at the Work and Pensions select committee in Parliament, who were taking evidence from Lord Turner.
"Lord Turner today talked about how his recommendations would make the system simpler.
"But recommending a two-tier state pension system, continued means testing, gradual rises in the basic state pension and even different ages to claim each state pension doesn't sound very simple to me.
"It's time this country faced up to the responsibility to our older citizens and move as quickly as possible to a fair Citizens Pension for all to allow people to live in dignity in their retirement."
