Leeds MP, Greg Mulholland, has been short listed for the Campaigning Politician of the Year award in the 2007 Channel 4 Political award for his work on behalf of Mirza Tahir Hussain, the Leeds man spared from execution in Pakistan and now back home with his family.
Greg and the other 3 short listed candidates for the award have been invited to the annual awards dinner in February and will each present a 3 minute descriptive films about their respective campaigns.
Commenting Greg said:
"I am delighted and honoured to have been nominated for such an illustrious award.
"The campaign to see justice for Mirza Tahir was a long, hard fought struggle and I was immensely proud to be a part of it.
"To see justice done after so many years was fantastic, the real reward was seeing Mirza Tahir reunited with his family after so many years."
