WESTGATE PRIMARY STUDENT WINS MP CHRISTMAS CARD COMPETITION

Greg Mulholland MP for Leeds North West today presented the winner of his Christmas Card Competition with an exquisite art box. Ellie Cummings aged 10 received the prize from Greg at a special awards ceremony at her school, Westgate Primary.

The Christmas Card Competition was run throughout Leeds North West in conjunction with Garnett Papers UK Ltd, with over 200 pupils taking part. Year six pupils were asked to design the front of Greg's Constituency Christmas Card which will go out to every household in Leeds North West. Ellie's design is of Santa and his reindeer riding through the night sky.

Greg also presented certificates to every pupil who took part in the competition, as well as presenting book tokens kindly donated by Waterstone's to the school.

Greg said "I really appreciate all the children's efforts. It was a difficult decision to choose a winner because the standard of entries was so high. I believe however that we made the right choice as I think Ellie has done a wonderful job capturing the spirit of Christmas in her design.

This is first year we have run this type of competition and I am looking forward to doing it again next year"
