Commenting on measures announced today to encourage teachers to take their pupils on more school trips, Liberal Democrat Schools Spokesperson Greg Mulholland said
"Education does not begin and end at the school gates. It is essential teachers feel they are legally protected when taking their pupils out on school trips.
"All students should be able to experience the whole range of educational opportunities available. These measures will be a vital confidence boost for teachers who are nervous about legal and safety concerns.
"As well as providing more guidance on how to navigate the complex regulations regarding school trips, the Government should look again to see if it can find any counterproductive health and safety legislation that could be scrapped."
