As the clocks go back and the evenings become longer, Greg Mulholland MP is reminding local residents, especially children and parents, of the importance of being safe and being seen on the winter roads.
Greg said: "With the return of long winter nights, our children face greater risks on our roads and it's even more important to remember the importance of basic road safety and the message 'Be Safe, Be Seen'. The number of children killed or injured on our roads is coming down each year, but we can't afford to be complacent.
"The Nationwide Building Society is again running its fantastic 'Cat's Eyes for Kids Scheme' which gives free reflectors to younger children to help keep them safe on the roads.
"It is vital that children are aware of the dangers which exist when the weather is bad and the light is poor so that they can stay safe - this campaign is a wonderful way of reminding everyone of the importance of being aware of these dangers.
