Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West, joined with Amjad Hussain, at an urgent demonstration today in Oxford, to send a clear message to Pakistani President General Musharraf who was visiting Oxford Union to talk to students
The demonstrators were there to call upon President Musharraf to use the powers given to him by the Pakistani Constitution to spare Mirza Tahir Hussain, the Leeds man on death row in Pakistan.
Speaking after the demonstration Greg said:
"The demonstration was very powerful and we can only hope that it inspires the President to act.
"We are encouraged that President Musharraf acknowledged our protest, and we are pleased to hear that he his seriously considering this case.
"What we want however, is President Musharraf's signature on a piece of paper that will set Mirza Tahir Hussain free and allow him to come home to this country to be with his family."
