Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West, has extended an open invitation for people to visit his constituency in Leeds North West on the anniversary of the July 7th terrorist attacks to see how the community dealt with the situation and has grown following the events of July last year.
Greg Mulholland represents the area of Hyde Park where the 7/7 bombers made the bombs used to such devastating effect in London. Greg is working with local community and religious leaders, councillors, the first Muslim Lord Mayor of Leeds, Cllr Mohammed Iqbal, and other MPs to continue to foster strong community links in the area.
Commenting Greg said:
"The community in Hyde Park and Burley have really moved on magnificently since the terrible events of last summer.
"What happened was a terrible thing, but the positive that has come out of it is that people from all sections of the community have come together and established stronger links and there is a real sense of wanting to show the positive nature of the diverse local community.
"I want everyone, including the media, to come to Hyde Park and speak to people and see an integrated, multicultural and thriving community in action.
"My message is simple: Come and visit our community, the churches, the mosques and temples and see a united community at the heart of a positive, diverse and forward-looking city. This is the true face of the great city of Leeds."
