Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West, has joined the panel for the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group's Community Pub Inquiry.
Commenting, Greg said:
"Pubs are often the focal point of a community, providing employment and a place for people to meet. Reductions in the price of alcohol in supermarkets has led to a decline in the number of people using pubs. Areas which lose their pubs often find that this has a detrimental effect on the community.
"We must look at the trading situation community pubs find themselves in, as many are operating as small businesses. The Government must be challenged to look at ways in which to secure the future of the community pub."
