Leeds MP, Greg Mulholland, addressed an emergency meeting on Pakistan held in the House of Commons today, voicing his concern over the current situation in the country, and the need for democracy to be restored in Pakistan as soon as possible.
Also present at the specially convened meeting of Parliamentarians was human rights campaigner Amjad Hussain from Leeds.
Commenting Greg said:
"The current situation in Pakistan is highly concerning, and it must be resolved as soon as possible.
"It is incumbent upon the international community to do everything possible to solve this situation, and pressure must be put on President Musharraf and his administration.
"Democracy must be restored without delay, and free and fair elections must be held in January as scheduled."
