Liberal Democrat MP for Leeds North West, Greg Mulholland, has offered his support for West Yorkshire Police's 'Knowledge campaign' in a visit to Belle Vue Police station this week. An active campaigner for safer and more secure student housing, Mulholland praised the police and universities for this latest initiative.
The Knowledge campaign, which is also supported by the universities, Safer Leeds and the Student Unions, aims to ensure the best possible life for students whilst they are in
Leeds, ensuring they remain safe and alert whilst in the city.
Launched this week the campaign will see the Knowledge brand being publicised throughout the city at a variety of events, and a specially designed website. In addition, there will be a 30 foot by 6 foot inflatable of the word 'Knowledge' touring around the universities together with the Knowledge campaigners offering advice and raising the profile of the campaign.
Greg Mulholland said, "It's great that West Yorkshire Police are mounting this campaign. It provides Students shouldn't have to feel afraid whilst studying at University. The Knowledge campaign is going to be an excellent tool in the fight against crime, ensuring students are more vigilant and do feel safer."
