Greg Mulholland MP, Member of Parliament for Leeds North West, played for MP's select team who took on representatives from the British Asian Rugby Association Charity Tag Rugby match last Wednesday at the Stoop in Twickenham. Mr Mulholland captained the MP's select side and also scored the first try of the game.
Players in the match included MP's Eric Joyce and Douglas Carwell and former Great Britain rugby league stars Martin Offiah, Phil Clarke and Ikram Butt, former Super League player and current Great Britain Team Manager Abi Ekoku, Harlequins Director of Rugby Tony Rea, and Pakistan RU Captain Khasif Khwaja.
Commenting on the match Greg said:
"It was great getting the rugby boots back on and playing alongside some rugby legends.
"It was also a great opportunity to highlight the great work BARA do to encourage British Asian youngsters to take up the game.
"Former England Rugby league star Ikram Butt, who set up BARA, is from Headingley and we want to see more local kids taking up the game and some going on to represent their country."
