Commenting following the release of a devastating study by the British Dental Association, showing that patients and dentists are losing out one year after the new dental contract was introduced, Leeds MP Greg Mulholland said:
"This report is a shocking catalogue of complaints by the very professionals on which the NHS depends. It confirms what we have long feared - the new dental contract is have a devastating effect on dentistry in our region."
"The Government is still claiming that the new contracts are working, despite the hundreds who are unable to get access to the treatment they need, and now the Chair of the British Dental Association stating categorically that the new dental contract is failing patients and dentists.
"It is time for the Government to finally start listening. It must listen to the concerns of dentists, and of patients, and introduce the reforms which are so desperately needed. If they continue to push on with their present course, those missing out on dental care will continue to suffer."
