HOSPITAL NEWS A BITTER BLOW FOR PEOPLE OF LEEDS - MULHOLLAND

Commenting on the news that the new Childrens and Maternity Hospital in Leeds has been shelved, Leeds MP Greg Mulholland said: "I am extremely disappointed at the news that the new Children's and Maternity Hospital has now been shelved, possibly for good. I know that it will come as a bitter blow to the people of Leeds

"This was supposed the flagship of the Government's plan to improve healthcare services in the city. The future of healthcare in Leeds now looks extremely bleak.

"Given the financial problems faced by the NHS it was perhaps sadly inevitably that vital services would be cut, but this news is a terrible indictment of this Government's Health Policy.

"The Government is not delivering on the promises that it has made to the people of Leeds."
