December 21, 2007 12:00 PM

Greg Mulholland MP for Leeds North West has been made a patron of Leeds Youth Opera and will attend a rehearsal this Saturday as part of his role.

The Youth Opera is one of only 3 independent operas in the country and has won numerous awards. The Opera members range in age from 12 to 25 and a drawn from schools, collages and universities from across Leeds.

The opera, which practices every Saturday at Spen Lane in Greg' s constituency, has been around for thirty years and is considered by many to be one of Leeds' finest cultural achievements.

Greg said "I am very honoured to have been made a patron of the Leeds Youth Opera. They are a superb local group and I delighted to support them. The dedication shown by the members and everyone involved is terrific; they should be applauded for all their hard work."

"Their performances are critically acclaimed and I would recommend people to go along to see their performance of Idomeneo in February which I am sure will be superb.

Idomeneo will be performed at the Carriageworks in Millennium Square between the 6th and 9th February. Tickets can be purchased from the box office on 0113 224 3801

If you are a resident of the Leeds North West constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
