Bars in the Houses in Parliament will mark St George's Day marked St George's Day with a toast at 9:30pm after the idea was proposed by Leeds MP Greg Mulholland.
Mr Mulholland wrote the Head of Catering in Parliament calling upon them to support the toast, which was also made in pubs and bars across the country to mark the day of the patron saint of England.
Greg also attended a reception on St George's Day with Miss England earlier in the Day in the House of Commons organised by Andrew Rosindell MP.
Commenting Greg said:
"It was a pleasure to meet Miss England at an event to commemorate our national day and I am delighted that bars in Parliament backed the toast Saint George.
"It is absolutely right to be proud of and celebrate our history and heritage, and I hope this is a tradition which will long continue."
