Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West, has said that the planned closures of 63 post offices right across West Yorkshire, including the Bramhope, Far Headingley and Newall post offices in his own constituency, will have a devastating impact on local communities across the area.
Commenting Mr Mulholland said:
"The news of these closures is a huge blow for people right across the area.
"Local businesses and local residents depend upon their local post office and the services that they provide, particularly the elderly who often simply cannot travel for miles to reach their nearest branch.
"These closures are a just another slap in the face for local people.
"The Government must urgently review the plans to close these post offices. We must save our local post offices, not shut them down."
