Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West, has said that the planned closures of 63 post offices right across West Yorkshire, including the Bramhope, Far Headingley and Newall post offices in his own constituency, will have a devastating impact on local communities across the area.
Commenting Mr Mulholland said:
"The news that Far Headingley is on the list of post offices to be closed is a huge blow for the area.
"Hundreds of local residents depend upon Far Headingley post office and the services that it provides each week. This is devastating news for them, particularly for elderly residents, who are simply not able to travel for miles to reach another branch.
"The Government needs to recognise this, and move urgently to stop the closure of Far Headingley, before this key local resource is lost from our community for good."
