GREG TO CONDUCT SPECIAL SURGERY TO CELBRATE PROUD OF PUBS WEEK

July 9, 2008 12:28 PM

Greg Mulholland MP for Leeds North West will conduct a special advice surgery at the White Swan in Yeadon next Friday (18th July) from 6pm until 7pm. Greg has already held special surgeries in village halls, caravan parks and the Half Moon in Pool, but this will be the first time that a special surgery has come to Yeadon.

Greg said "I want to be as accessible an MP as possible and doing extra surgeries in locations such as the White Swan, will I hope encourage people who wouldn't usually come to my regular surgeries to come along and let me know about any problems I can help them with or to tell me their views."

Greg has chosen this week to do this Special surgery as it will be Proud of Pubs Week. This is a national venture to encourage people to use their local. Many local pubs have closed in recent years and many more are under threat.

Greg has been a strong supporter of local pubs both in Parliament and also locally. He is continuing to fight to get the Summercross pub in Otley re-opened, and in Westminster he has tabled motions aimed at trying to protect local pubs, as well as writing to the chancellor asking him to help local pubs.

Greg added "The local pub is the centre of many communities and we must do all we can to try and help them thrive. Proud of pubs week is a really good idea and I hope it will encourage more people to us their local."

The address of the White Swan is High Street, Yeadon, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS19 7NA

If you are a resident of the Leeds North West constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
