Local MP Greg Mulholland has bought a section of turf from Headingley Carnegie, which will take pride of place in his back garden.
The turf at Headingley Carnegie Cricket Ground, which has seen Bradman's innings of 334, Boycott's 100th hundred and Botham's Ashes, is being removed to allow new drainage and irrigation systems to be installed.
Commenting Greg said:
"I am delighted to have been offered the chance to buy my own little piece of history.
"The ground has seen some fantastic occasions down the years, from huge innings to ashes triumphs, and now I get to have a piece of that in my back garden!
"I am looking forward to going back to the ground once they have laid the new pitch, and to all the great occasions that are undoubtedly yet to come."
