REPORT DEMONSTRATES URGENT NEED FOR REFORM OF SOCIAL CARE FUNDING - MULHOLLAND

Commenting on the report by the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) released today which warns that there is no alternative to radical reform of the way the social care system is funded, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Older People and MP for Leeds North West , Greg Mulholland said:
"This report proves how badly widespread reform of social care funding is needed.
"The current system is both unfair and ineffective, too many people are not receiving the care that they need, and too many social care professionals are becoming disillusioned waiting for reforms that never seem to come.
"We need a new sustainable, fair, and clear funding system, and we need it now, or the situation for thousands of older people requiring care will continue to deteriorate."
