Leeds MP Greg Mulholland has tabled an Early Day Motion in Parliament calling for the people of Leeds, Leeds City Council and the local media to come together to protest against plans to close the Calsberg Tetley Brewery in Leeds, which has been brewing Tetley on the site for 186 years.
Greg also raised the issue in the House of Commons today with the Speaker of the House in Business Questions, and has written to Calsberg urging them to look again at the plans.
Commenting Greg said:
"The Tetley's Brewery has been brewing beer in Leeds for over 186 years, to hear that it is now going to close its doors after so many years is a huge blow for the city, and for those who work at the brewery.
"I am urging the local community, elected representatives and media to come together to campaign against the closure, and to urge Calsberg to look again at the plans."
