LEEDS MP INVITES MINISTER TO VISIT LOCAL WHEATFIELDS HOSPICE TO VIEW EXCELLENT CARE AT FIRST HAND

October 4, 2008 5:00 AM

In Oral Health Questions in the House of Commons today, Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West, invited new care Minister Phil Hope MP to come and visit the Sue Ryder Care Wheatfields Hospice in Leeds as it celebrates its 30th Anniversary.

Mr Mulholland commended the excellent work done by the Hospice, and called on the Minister to recognise the funding problems hospices like Wheatfields are currently facing.

Commenting Greg said:

"I was delighted to have the opportunity to raise the excellent work done by Wheatfields in the House, and to invite the Minister to come and see that work at first hand.

"However, there was also a further serious message - hospices like Wheatfields are facing a daily struggle for funding, to be able to carry on giving the exceptional care that they provide to their patients.

"The Government needs to recognise this, and take action to ensure that hospices like Wheatfields are able to endure these difficult economic times."

If you are a resident of the Leeds North West constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
