Local MP Greg Mulholland has expressed his concern that the minor injuries service at the Wharfedale Hospirtal has been awarded to private firm Local Care Direct in the absence of a proper consultation process.
Mr Mulholland has also expressed his disappointment that the Leeds City Council's Health and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Board did not examine this issue, despite the concerns of local people and staff at the hospital.
Commenting Greg said:
"I am extremely concerned that this contract has been awarded despite a lack of proper consultation process.
"Local residents and staff at the hospital have expressed considerable concern about the move, and yet the whole process has been rushed through without proper examination.
"I am also very disappointed that the Scrutiny Board has failed to meet my request to examine this issue.
"It seems that the Trust was hell-bent on this decision, regardless of the views of the people who work and use the hospital."
