Greg Mulholland MP has called the ongoing situation with faulty barriers at Leeds Station embarrassing, and said it was quite understandable for people to question whether the money to improve the barriers was well spent.
Commenting he said:
"The system has been in for 3 weeks now and still isn't working properly which is embarrassing. Northern Rail should hold their hands up and say yes, this hasn't gone very well and we are putting it right.
"To try to suggest that they intended all along for a £1.6 million pound system not to work properly is simply ridiculous, and they would be better off just taking the criticism on the chin.
"A date still hasn't been given when the barriers will be working properly and until it is people will quite rightly continue to question whether this was money well spent, particularly when the real problems in Leeds are overcrowded trains and not enough carriages".
