Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West, has backed amendments to the Local Transport Bill which would put in place provisions to encourage low carbon transport.
Greg is backing an amendment to the Local Transport Bill which would require Local Authorities to ensure that their transport policies would contribute to tackling climate change. The Bill is due to come back to the House of Commons for further debate shortly.
Commenting Greg said:
"It is vitally important that any and all transport policy takes account of climate change.
"From a local to a national level we must ensure that the impact of carbon emissions from transport on the environment is mitigated as far as possible by using more sustainable and greener forms of transport.
"The Government must recognise that much more must be done to tackle climate change, and cleaner transport is a key part of this."
