Greg Mulholland MP commended the work done by local domestic violence charity Behind Closed Doors on the floor on the House of Commons yesterday, as he called for more funding for charitable groups which help women cope with the terrible consequences of domestic violence.
Greg raised the issue with Minister Harriet Harman during Women and Equality Oral Questions in Parliament yesterday.
Commenting Greg said:
"I was very pleased to have the opportunity to pay tribute to the excellent work done by Behind Closed Doors in helping women cope with the dreadful consequences of domestic violence.
"It is high time that this work was recognised, and that these groups received the funding that they badly need to continue to provide these vital support services.
"I am pleased that the Minister recognised the scale of the problem of domestic violence, and the need to support the excellent work being done by these charitable groups, and I hope that this will translate into a real funding commitment."
