Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West and Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Minister and Older People's Spokesperson, challenged Ministers today over measures to end age discrimination against patients contained within the proposed new NHS constitution.
During the Health and Education Humble address today, Mr Mulholland raised concerns over the current lack of social care cover and called on the Government to introduce a new constitution that would benefit all patients.
Commenting Greg said:
"There are serious flaws in the current NHS constitution that don't do nearly enough to protect patients against age discrimination.
"What we have at the moment is a system of half measures whereby some people are covered by the constitution, whilst others are left standing in the cold.
"The Government should take the step to introduce an NHS constitution that would help bring an end to the two tier system of care and ensure that everyone is given the care and protection they deserve."
