Commenting on the report released by the Commission for Social Care Inspection's report which revealed that a fifth of social care places purchased by councils were in poor or adequate adult care homes, Leeds MP and Liberal Democrat Shadow Minister for Older People, Greg Mulholland MP said:
"It is completely unacceptable that so many people are still subject to substandard care and conditions.
"Improvements in the system are happening much too slowly, and the reforms the Government have promised are taking way too long.
"We need action now to help the vast numbers of old and disabled people currently living in inadequate care homes."
