Greg Mulholland MP today welcomed the decision of the plans panel to defer the decision on a planning application to turn the Summercross pub in Otley into a care home. The panel agreed that there had been problems with process and that the decision should be deferred for a month.
Greg said:
"It was clear that proper process had not been followed and that a number of residents had not been told about the revised plans and the plans panel meeting which meant they couldn't express their views.
"It was also unacceptable to have the consultation process starting on the 23rd December, so I am pleased that this matter has been deferred for a month"
"The core argument remains, that greedy developers closed the Summercross, a profitable pub against the wishes of the landlord and the local community and we will keep fighting until we get it back."
