Greg Mulholland MP has written to Michael Grade asking him to reconsider plans to close ITV's Leeds studio.

Commenting on the news that ITV are to close much of their Leeds studio local MP Greg Mulholland said:

"This news is a huge blow for Leeds, and for those people who face losing their jobs as a result of these cuts.

"We face losing some great regional programming, Countdown in particular is a Yorkshire institution, to hear that it is being moved to Manchester will be particularly hard for local people to swallow.

"I have written to Michael Grade urging him to reconsider these moves, and retain all elements of the Leeds studio so we protect the proud history of regional programming in Leeds."
