Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West, is backing calls for a new 'Post Bank' to be set up and run as part of the Post Office network, which would offer a wider range of financial services and would be backed by the Government rather than a private institution.
Greg Mulholland MP is backing calls for a new 'Post Bank' to be set-up to help secure the long-term future of the Post Office.
Commenting Greg said:
"With the current financial crisis, when people have lost confidence in banks and bankers, there has never been a better time to create a Post Bank.
"Not only would this provide way for businesses and individuals to access reliable banking services through the thousands of Post Office branches across the country, the revenue it would generate could underpin the entire post office network.
"At a stroke we could provide a fair and trusted banking alternative, and secure the long-term future of the Post Office."
