MULHOLLAND TOASTS CASK ALE WEEK AT OTLEY PUB

April 6, 2009 3:15 PM

Greg Mulholland MP for Leeds North West and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Save the Pub Group will be visiting The Junction Inn in Otley on Tuesday April 7th to join its celebration of Cask Ale Week. Around 6,000 pubs across the UK will take part in the event with various themed days culminating in an attempt to set a world record for the world's biggest toast on Saturday 11th April.

Greg has tabled an Early Day Motion welcoming the week and recognising the economic strength of the cask ale industry that was demonstrated by recent sales figures from the Small Independent Brewers Association.

Commenting, Greg said:

"In the current economic climate and with it becoming increasingly expensive for landlords to purchase casks of beer, it is essential that we support our local pubs, which are at the heart of many communities in Britain. Celebrating Cask Ale Week is an excellent way to show this support."

The Junction Inn is a great local pub and the hard work Tony Grey does keeping it there deserves to be applauded."

If you are a resident of the Leeds North West constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
