Greg Mulholland MP for Leeds North West today demanded the immediate return of the Hackney Cab rank at Leeds Bradford Airport after Leeds City Council Plans Panel deferred the decision over the terminal expansion. The Airport was told by the panel that it would have to re-install a Hackney cab rank.
The Airport has had an exclusive contract with one taxi firm. This has excluded other taxi companies and has limited choice for passengers at the Airport.
Greg, who has made representations to the Airport and the Council on behalf of the taxi drivers, said;
"It has been completely unfair that many local taxi firms are stopped from picking-up passengers, it's bad for their business and it's restricts choice for passengers at the Airport."
"The Airport, rather than waiting until a full decision to be reached over the terminal expansion should install a rank for all taxi cabs immediately."
