Greg Mulholland MP for Leeds North West expressed his disappointment with the Highways Department after they again refused to lower the speed limit.
Greg and Moorland Road residents have been demanding a reduction in the speed limit on the road for a number of years. Moorland Road has a number of family houses running off it but despite this the speed limit remains at 60mph rather than the 30mph many local people wish to see.
Greg said;
Greg Mulholland MP with the residents on Moorland Road.
"There are serious concerns that someone is going to seriously injured or killed on this road. It is vital that the Highways Department look at this again and we can avoid an accident."
In a letter received by Greg he has been told that one of the principle reasons for the failure to change the speed limit is that it would be cost prohibitive.
Replying to this Greg said;
"I am surprised to see Highways using cost as a reason for not lowering the speed limit. The outlay for a few new road signs cannot be that expensive and it could literally save lives."
