STARTING PISTOL FIRED IN MP'S CHARITY CHALLENGE

May 2, 2009 5:50 PM

The firing pistol has sounded in Greg Mulholland MPs charity challenge. The MP will be joined by Otley and Yeadon Councillor Ryk Downes and Leeds Met's Martin Rivett in a 126 mile charity challenge - to do a marathon and a 100 mile walk in the space of a month.

The three are raising money for three local charities - Kidz in Kampz which is based in Holt Park and helps children who live in camps on the Thai/Burmese border, Wheatfield Hospice in Headingley and the Wharfedale Hospital Special Equipment Fund.

Greg said;

"The challenge is certainly going to be tiring but I am really looking forward to it. I hope we can raise a good deal of money for these three excellent local charities, they make a real difference in their field and need all the support they can get."

Councillor Ryk Downes added;

"Sponsoring us is very easy. You can do it online at www.126milechallenge.co.uk by using paypal, or you can send a cheque made payable to 126 mile challenge to 126 mile challenge, 12 Holt Park Centre, Leeds, LS16 7SR."

    If you are a resident of the Leeds North West constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

    If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
