Greg Mulholland MP for Leeds North West has signed a parliamentary motion supporting Wednesday's further Ombudsman report into the Equitable Life fiasco.
In the first report the Parliamentary Ombudsman criticised the Government for its failure to properly regulate Equitable Life and called for compensation for those policy holders who had lost their savings.
In an unprecedented step the Ombudsman has now released a second report; 'In Justice Unremedied' heavily criticising the Government for their lack of action since the first report.
Commenting, Greg said;
"We are not talking about wild speculation, people invested in Equitable Life because they presumed that the Government was doing the job of regulating it properly.
Now it seems that the Government is unwilling to accept responsibility for its own failures and properly compensate policy holders even in the face of this damning report from the Ombudsman
30,000 people have already died waiting for a just resolution to the Equitable Life saga. Policy-holders should not have to wait any longer."
