A SAD DAY FOR BRITAIN AND YORKSHIRE - MULHOLLAND

Following last night's European election results, Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West, has slammed the politicians whose collective actions have led to the BNP gaining a seat in Yorkshire and the Humber.

Commenting, Greg said;

"This has been a very disappointing day and a blow for the D-Day veterans who fought against fascism and hatred.

It is clear that the BNP were only able to get a look in due to the disillusionment over expenses

There is no doubt the MPs expenses scandal has been a key factor. Those MPs who abused the system and those who tried to stop publication of claims have to take much of the responsibility, even more so today they should hang their heads in shame"
