Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West, has put forward a parliamentary motion drawing attention to the falling numbers of bus passengers in West Yorkshire.
Mr Mulholland has placed the blame for the fall in passenger numbers on the restrictive pricing policies adopted by bus operators in the area.
Greg commented;
"This study shows that the de-regulated bus market is serving company share-holders and neglecting the general public.
In my constituency First buses have increased fares and cut services over the past year, despite recording a substantial profit over the same period.
It is time for the Government to take action and protect the needs of consumers instead of letting profit-driven companies walk all over them."
