MULHOLLAND CONTINUES TO PURSUE JUSTICE FOR ENID

July 17, 2009 1:50 PM

Greg Mulholland MP for Leeds North West yesterday spoke in a special parliamentary debate he had managed to secure on the issue of Enid Ruhango's outstanding asylum claim.

Mr Mulholland questioned Home Office Minister Alan Campbell on why this case had dragged on for so long and accused the Home Office of negligence in the manner in which they have approached the case.

Commenting, Greg said:

"I wanted to take this opportunity to put the facts of this case on record. Since coming to this country from Ugangda where she was assaulted and tortured Enid has been let down at every opportunity by our immigration system.

I went to extraordinary measures to secure this debate because it was high time that a senior member of the Home Office was held to account over the negligent way that Enid's case has been handled.

I will continue to work closely along side Enid's supporters to ensure in seeking a just and proper outcome to this tragic chapter in Enid's life."

If you are a resident of the Leeds North West constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
