Mulholland welcomes the introduction of tram-train tracks along the Rotherham Sheffield route

Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West and huge supporter of the tram train project has reacted top news that the Government has begun plans to introduce a light rail line rail freight route from Rotherham joining the Sheffield Supertram network at Meadowhall Interchange

Commenting Greg said:

"I welcome the new trials and I think it is particularly important that the trials will test tram train on both light and heavy rail routes.

"Hopefully this trial will be a huge success and the Government will start rolling similar schemes across the region.

"We now need to start planning for a Leeds-Harrogate York line which services Leeds Bradford airport."
