Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Save the Pub Group has written to the Chief Executive of Enterprise Inns to express his concerns about the future of the Black Horse in Otley.
Enterprise Inns are rumoured to be reviewing their interests in Otley and Greg has taken the opportunity to request Mr Tuppen consider selling the Black Horse at market price to an operator who would be willing to invest and improve the Black Horse and possibly introduce hotel facilities to the town.
Commenting Greg said:
"The Black Horse is an important part of Otley's heritage and it would be a crying shame if it was sold off as anything other than a good community pub.
"There is also an opportunity for an investor to create a hotel alongside running the business as a pub; this is something the town has been crying out for as we try to increase tourism to the area.
"I see no reason whatsoever that Enterprise should refuse to sell the pub at market price to a well intentioned investor."
