Mulholland Welcomes Greengauge21 Report

September 18, 2009 5:28 AM

Greg Mulholland, Member of Parliament for Leeds North West, and leading campaigner for a High Speed Rail Line to Yorkshire has welcomed a report by influential campaign group Greengauge21.

The report recommends that the Government invest in a high speed rail network as opposed to a single line up the west coast with branches off it servicing other areas of the country.

Commenting, Greg said:

"This report echoes what we campaigners have been saying for a long time; that Yorkshire and the Humber need their own high speed link directly with the capital.

"I was pleased to hear that Lord Adonis has acknowledged the good sense this report makes and I would urge the Government to take this report very seriously.

"The economic benefits that a direct high speed link between Yorkshire and the capital would bring are well known, any thing else would sell our region short."

If you are a resident of the Leeds North West constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
