Greg Mulholland MP for Leeds North West and Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Older People spoke in a debate on wardens in sheltered accommodation today.
Greg mentioned Rosemont flats where he had met with several residents who were concerned that their own warden had left and not been replaced.
Commenting Greg said,
"I have expressed concern about the fact that a lot of wardens are being removed from their positions, obviously as a cost saving measure.
"What the Government does not seem to take in to consideration is the cost of forcing older vulnerable people to live without the comfort and security of knowing there is a warden near by.
"The people I met at Rosemont in Bramhope expressed their concerns at not having a warden around, saying it made it more difficult to lead a fun and sociable life."
