Mulholland continues to fight for Equitable Life victims

October 21, 2009 8:28 PM

Greg Mulholland MP for Leeds North West and one of the leading campaigners for victims of the Equitable Life debacle has today spoken in the debate, called by the Liberal Democrats, on the Governments handling of the fiasco.

Greg is the Lib Dem spokesperson for older people's issues and has been contacted by several of his constituents who have lost money in the scheme.

Commenting Greg said:

"I asked the Minister to explain how much taxpayers' money has been spent over the past decade trying to evade justice for the many whilst offering only means tested handouts for the few?"

"Over thirty thousand people who had been let down by Equitable life have now died without being granted the justice they deserved.

"I hope the Government decides to do the decent thing before any more of these people die in poverty that they tried to protect themselves against."

If you are a resident of the Leeds North West constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
