Greg Mulholland MP for Leeds North West was appointed vice chair of the All Party Parliamentary Suicide Prevention Group.
Greg has been a leading campaigner in trying to have websites that encourage and offer guidance on the most effective ways people can kill themselves banned.
Commenting on his appointment Greg said:
"A suicide is always a tragic event and often leaves a family devastated and in a deep sense of shock.
"I was very deeply affected recently by the story of Imogen D'arcy, a young girl in my constituency, who took her life after reading the guidance available on these websites.
"I look forward to working alongside my fellow members of the suicide prevention group over the coming year looking at methods of prevention and support for victims and families of this terrible tragedy."
