Greg Mulholland MP for Leeds North West has responded to Friday's report by the association of Train Operating Companies on Friday:
Greg said:
"For too long private rail franchises have put profit first and the passenger second.
"The East Coast Main Line should remain in public ownership for an extended period as an example of how to run a franchise which puts the customer first, hopefully other franchises will take notice and follow this example.
"I hope the Government will recognise the advantage of keeping this line in public ownership and scrap plans to find another franchise in the near future."
