Greg Mulholland MP for Leeds North West today joined exasperated residents of Moorland Road and Occupation Lane in an outlandish protest about Council inaction over the current speed limit on Moorland Road.
The speed limit on Moorland Road is currently derestricted despite it being a residential road with several young families living on it.
Exasperated residents had taken to the street with special "30mph" signs, made by children who live on the two affected roads, which they placed over the current derestricted signs, they also handed out leaflets to passing drivers.
Commented, Greg said:
"The residents have been trying to get the current crazy speed limit reduced for years; the fact is that such a high speed limit on a residential street puts lives at risk.
"In one morning the kids who live here managed to change the speed limit on Moorland Road, why do the council find it so difficult?"
Mark Kingston who has been one of the residents leading the call for change added:
"The council's refusal to acknowledge the danger that this ridiculous anomaly poses, is absolutely scandalous. Is it going to take a loss of life to get them to come to their senses and change the speed limit? What price do they put on a life?"
