Greg Mulholland MP for Leeds North West has spoken today about his great feelings of sadness upon learning that a man had been caught urinating on a war memorial in Headingley.
Days prior to the incident members of the Royal British Legion MPs club of which Greg is a member had laid wreaths at the memorial in a mark of respect.
Commenting Greg said:
"This really is a very disrespectful act and I think people have every right to feel very upset about this.
"You have to question the humanity of someone who can behave like this; I hope the courts see fit to deliver an appropriate punishment.
"The saddest thing here is that actions such as these completely undermine all the efforts that people go to every year to honour those who have died defending our country and it values."
