Greg Mulholland MP for Leeds North West and Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Health spent Tuesday locked in debate with the Government over the controversial Free Personal Care at Home Bill.
Greg, who was leading the Liberal Democrat response to the Bill argued for a fairer deal for people with terminal conditions and for the need for a standardised national assessment programme.
Commenting Greg said:
"This Bill has the potential to be very important and whilst I don't agree with the botched manner with which it was introduced by the Government it is important that we now make sure we get it right.
"The Bill as it stands has no nationalised assessment process making portability of care packages impossible; I was very pleased that the Government have agreed to address this following my suggestion.
"It is also important to ensure that people with dementia and terminal conditions are given appropriate treatment by trained staff, I also successfully argued this point with the Minister."
